The 58th Annual Celebration of Ballet Austin’s performance of the Nutcracker is a holiday favorite that can be enjoyed from the warmth and comfort of your own home this year. If you would normally purchase a ticket to watch this traditional ballet in person, now you can access on-demand viewing from December 12 through January 1. Austin Trail of Lights

The Magic of Peppermint Parkway

Through December 27, you can enjoy a magical drive-thru experience at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas. Peppermint Parkway is a one-mile attraction that will immerse you in millions of holiday lights that are synchronized to lively and joyful holiday music. The tour’s mascots are Pepper and Mint who are on a mission to deliver letters to Santa. Along their way, they meet dancing elves and strolling entertainers, as they are transported from Candy Cane Lane to an Enchanted Forest.

Virtual Shopping at Blue Genie Art Bazaar

You can support local artists while doing your holiday shopping in a safe environment at the virtual Blue Genie Art Bazaar. You can also choose to visit the stores in person, knowing that the bazaar is taking the necessary precautions, including requiring face masks and limiting the number of shoppers. It’s best to reserve a time for in-person shopping. Virtually, you can browse thousands of original works made by local artists for unique gifts. The bazaar is open through December 24.

Buda Trail of Lights

The City of Buda is hosting its 12th annual Trail of Lights as a drive-thru event. Enjoy the traditional Christmas light display in Historic Stagecoach Park December 10-13 and December 17-20, from 6pm to 10pm. You can experience all of the fun displays from the safety and comfort of your own vehicle. Best of all, this is a free event!

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

Enjoy the fresh air as you stroll through an outdoor botanical oasis at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Luminations is the center’s holiday event, held through January 3, complete with the shimmer of thousands of luminarias lighting the way. This year, for the first time ever, you can stroll through the Texas Arboretum among the illuminated oaks and the light-splashed forts of Fortlandia. See the holiday sights on a one-way path, with plenty of social distancing, as you experience audio and visual art installations and an open-air illuminated tunnel.

A Cup of Coffee on the Colorado River

Reserve a table through January 6 to enjoy a beautiful view of the Colorado River and its extravagant holiday lights. Mozarts’ Coffee Christmas Lights Show promises a safe and fun holiday experience. You can reserve and enjoy the show, as well as a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, for a one-hour time slot between 6pm and 11pm.

A Sober New Year’s Eve

The city of Austin hosts an annual alcohol-free New Year’s Eve party on Auditorium Shores. There will be musical entertainment, art, and of course, a light show. This is a family friendly event designed to keep you safe while enjoying the celebration.
