Austin Sober Living & Transitional Housing Options
SOBER HOUSES & TRANSITIONAL LIVING
For optimum recovery and relapse prevention, sober living is highly recommended for those new to sobriety or returning after a period of time.
A sober living house or transitional living is a sober residence for those who have a minimum of 30 days of sobriety and ideally have completed treatment at a residential treatment center or outpatient rehab program. Sober homes provide daily support and structure in a cooperative living arrangement and assist the newly sober person in transitioning back into society to live independently. See the Extended Care page for more structured and longer length of stay sober living options.
Sober homes are usually gender specific and have monthly fees based on the type of facility, services and support.
Houses listed on this page are in alpha order and specify gender served and location. Before you start your search, make a list of what you will be doing while in sober living….looking for a job? working? going to school? going to 12 Step meetings? doing volunteer/service work? You will want to choose a place geographically convenient to your lifestyle needs. Use the zip code map link the bottom of the the Home page to determine where zip codes are located in the Austin area. Reputable sober living homes are going to require that you are working, looking for work, going to school, doing service work or a combination. It is suggested you do phone interviews and visit three homes before making a decision. Most will require an application and deposit prior to moving in.
