Choosing a Treatment Program

How to Find the Best Addiction Treatment Program

CHOOSING A TREATMENT PROGRAM

If you or someone you care for is dependent or abusing alcohol and/or drugs and needs help, it is important to know that no single approach is appropriate for all individuals. Finding the right treatment program involves careful consideration of multiple factors such as type/severity of addiction, geographical location, length of stay needed or desired, philosophical approach to treatment and financial/insurance issues.

If you are searching on the internet for assistance in the Austin area or any specific geographical area, be aware of false or misleading advertising.  Generally speaking, it is always best to speak directly with a representative from the organization you are inquiring about. The name of their facility and address should be clearly displayed on their website. Since there is no paid advertising on SoberAustin.com, you can be safely assured all listings are legitimate.

There are many treatment facilities and programs to choose from in the Austin and Central Texas area. See the pages listed in the Recovery section of this website for adult residential inpatient facilitiesadult outpatient treatment centers and adolescent recovery programs. Each facility/program has a brief description and a website.

All of them will take your calls, answer your questions, and make an appointment to talk to you at their facility if you are interested.

IF YOU HAVE MONEY OR INSURANCE...

Most treatment centers will accept cash, credit cards, money orders, and have relationships with third-party finance companies. If you have insurance, some or all of your treatment cost may be covered by your insurance. The treatment center representative can check with your insurance company to find out.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY OR INSURANCE...

Unfortunately, public funded programs in Texas are very limited. The State of Texas Health and Human Services provides a screening service to help Texas residents with no income or insurance who need treatment.

OSAR (Outreach, Screening, Assessment, Referral) works with the individual, family and support system in helping
